Basic care is not one set of movements for the whole day. Morning and evening solve different tasks: in the morning the skin needs protecting, in the evening — cleansing and letting it restore. So the steps are partly different.
Morning = protection: cleansing → hydration → sunscreen. Evening = cleansing and restoration: cleansing → hydration, without sunscreen. Simply repeating the same set morning and evening is a mistake: sunscreen is not needed at night, and heavy actives are best not worn under the daytime sun.
01Morning and evening solve different things
In the morning the task is to protect the skin for the day: cleansing, hydration and, essentially, sunscreen. In the evening — to cleanse and let it restore: remove the day and hydrate, without sunscreen. So the steps are partly different, and repeating the same set twice is a mistake.
02Care step by step
Briefly, step by step. If there was sunscreen or make-up during the day, evening cleansing is better done in two stages: double cleansing. Choose a cream for your skin type, and on sunscreen itself — here.
- Cleanse. A gentle product or simply warm water.
- Hydrate. A cream for your skin type.
- Sunscreen SPF 30+. The final step, before make-up.
- Cleanse. Remove sunscreen/make-up — double, if there was any.
- Actives. By readiness and one at a time (not required to start).
- Hydration / night cream. Seal in moisture. Sunscreen is not needed at night.
Do not duplicate one set morning and evening: sunscreen — daytime only, heavy actives — in the evening.
03What not to do
Do not wash twice, harshly, with hot water — this hits the barrier. Do not apply sunscreen at night. And do not introduce actives at once both morning and evening: the skin needs time to get used to one before adding the next.
04Common questions
Do I need to wash with a cleanser in the morning?
Not everyone. With dry or sensitive skin, warm water is often enough in the morning — that way you do not over-dry the skin. With oily skin, a gentle product in the morning is appropriate.
Can I skip evening cleansing?
If there was sunscreen or make-up during the day — no: they need removing, otherwise they stay on the skin all night. On a "bare" day without sunscreen, one gentle wash is enough.
